BIO
Sandra Lefever is a fine and graphic artist who has regularly practiced observational figurative drawing using wet and dry mediums for the last 33 years. Her past work includes the exploration of identity using video, performance, serial drawings, and prints. She is currently collaborating on print and book art projects as a member of the Semi-Occasionals, an all-female graphic arts and design collective based in California. She has a BFA in Fine Art from Carnegie Mellon University. She currently lives in Sarasota, Florida.
My most recent work demonstrates the versatility of my artistic tool box. The projects are prompt-based collaborations, using different materials and media that are best suited for each particular project, rather than using the same media to find solutions to entirely different problems. In conceptualizing the art and layout for PocketQuest 2022, I used the event logo as the prompt to build a world and expand on a narrative appropriate to that initial design concept. This project was never intended for print or to be produced as a tactile product, and needed to be very flexible in scale, and as such, was entirely drawn with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The Punctation of the Month Club's end goal was to have each artist in the project riff off the same monthly punctuation prompt, producing small, hand made editions of the same page size for collating into a 13 copy edition of artist books. In order to consistently duplicate each page image, hand carved relief printing was the process I chose as the production solution.
